Clorox Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner
|
Clorox Automatic toilet bowl cleaner is one of the more sophisticated cleaning systems. This item is placed into the water tank, behind the toilet. This is vastly different from some of the other automatic toilet bowl cleaners that are currently available. The Clorox Automatic toilet bowl cleaner consists of a cleansing agent, with bleach, in a large tablet of sorts. It has the distinct smell associated with bleach, and due to their active ingredients, should be used carefully. As with any hazardous chemical, it needs to be kept away from children. That tablet, once placed into the tank needs to be allowed to soften in the water. After a brief period of time, it can be flushed. Then it releases the chemicals into the bowl itself. This process may not prevent the need for an occasional scrub. Consistent use will make the process easier, if it is necessary at all. This products claims on their website to kill 99.9% of bacteria. It states that the use of this product can prevent mineral and hard water stains. In 2010, Clorox also ran a commercial that included their automatic toilet cleaner that implies that their products can reduce or eliminate the flu virus. A negative aspect that has come to the attention of professional plumbers, regularly since the early 1990's involves the shortened life span of some of the parts of the toilet. It has also been observed that certain components of the drop in toilet bowl cleaners, can contribute to serious flushing issues. It is safe to use this product on any color or style of toilet. This includes a round or elongated bowl, as well as any color (including white) that is, or has recently been produced. Additionally, it is safe to stock up on this item as it comes on sale, as it is good for anywhere from 12-18 months from the day of manufacture. It should not be used with any other items that contain ammonia or acid. One should not expect this cleaner to work well on rust stains, as it is much better on organic stains. Finally, it is strongly suggested that if it a toilet is not flushed regularly, the benefits of this product will not surpass the risk. Leaving an automatic toilet cleaner in a toilet that is not flushed regularly is a leading cause of plumbing problems. |
